Does your township have a fiery relationship with the volunteer fire company or has the partnership sizzled out? PSATS wants to help your township reignite the flames with your fire services. The association is offering two virtual courses in the next couple months to help improve your relationships with your fire companies and planning fire service operations.

These are great opportunities for you to include senior leadership from your volunteer fire departments (if you register them directly, they will receive the PSATS member rate). For the Strategic Planning class, a combination of township and VFD personnel is highly encouraged!

Building And Maintaining Effective Relationships With Volunteer Fire Companies – Virtual – 10/21/20 – Too often, the only communication between the volunteer fire company and a township occurs either at budget time or when a crisis hits. Yet, positive relationships between fire companies and public officials are essential to providing the best possible service to a community. This virtual session will identify why unclear expectations between public officials and fire company leaders can lead to problems and how solutions may be easier than expected. As they say, it’s all about relationships. Eligible for 2 PMGA Public Safety points.

Strategic Planning For Fire Service Operations In Townships – Virtual – 11/18/20 -This virtual session will review the top 10 challenges facing volunteer fire departments and identify the responsibilities of the township when it comes to volunteer fire companies. Methods for assessing community expectations will also be discussed. Participants will be provided “show and apply” methods to conduct a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis of their current fire service operations and how to develop a standard of response based on public expectations. Qualifies for 4 PMGA Public Safety points

Hope to see you at one of these virtual sessions!
